Bloomingdale library gets $7,000 grant
The Journal Gazette
Bloomingdale Elementary School has received a $7,000 library grant, primarily to improve its nonfiction collection, Fort Wayne Community Schools said today.
The grant from the Laura Bush Foundation for America's Libraries will enable Bloomingdale to extend, update and diversify the book and print collections in its library, FWCS said in a statement. It was the only Indiana school to get a grant among 131 awarded nationwide.
Bloomingdale will add books about cultures, places in the world, technology, science, government, economics, careers and colleges, the statement said. Part of the grant will be used to refresh fiction offerings, including books in Spanish.
Since 2002, the foundation has awarded more than $12.5 million to nearly 2,500 schools across the country.
