Man found dead in pickup on Walnut

Fort Wayne police are conducting a death investigation in a neighborhood southwest of downtown.

Around 2:20 a.m. Saturday, police were called to the 800 block of Walnut Street on report of an unresponsive adult male in a blue Dodge pickup, according to a statement from the Fort Wayne Police Department.

When police arrived, they found the man lying across the truck’s seats. He was declared dead at the scene.

All death investigations are initially treated as homicides until proved otherwise, but the statement said no foul play was suspected.

The Allen County coroner’s office will determine the cause and manner of death.

The case remains under investigation.


Suspect accused of child molesting


A Fort Wayne man was charged Wednesday with 12 counts of child molesting.

Court documents state Martin A. Lopez, 39, is accused of having sex with two juveniles under 14 years old who were known to him. According to court documents, the alleged offenses took place over a period of several years.

A warrant has been issued for Lopez’s arrest. However, court documents state that Lopez may have left the country.
