Guilty plea made in fatal stabbing

A Fort Wayne man who confessed in jail he killed a man in August because that man was black pleaded guilty but mentally ill Friday.

Aaryn Snyder, 31, of Fort Wayne, pleaded guilty but mentally ill to murder in the Aug. 20 stabbing death of Samuel Hardix, 22. He was found behind a home in the 400 block of Schilling Avenue.

Snyder was arrested Sept. 19 for failing to register as a sex offender.

While in jail, Snyder said that he killed Hardrix in August because Hardrix was black, Hardrix had accused him of being a child molester and “he (Hardrix) was in my yard,” according to court documents.

Snyder was to stand trial in August but the trial was canceled. Snyder will be sentenced this month.

Woman admits to 2 bank robberies

A woman pleaded guilty this week to robbing two branches of Salin Bank.

Tiffany M. Whisman, 32, admitted robbing the bank branches at 6433 E. State Blvd. on Oct. 26 and 9835 Lima Road on Feb. 21.

She'll be sentenced Aug. 1.
