Doctor: 2-year-old's injuries consistent with closed fist punches
MATTHEW LEBLANC | The Journal Gazette
A 2-year-old boy whose body was taken to a Fort Wayne fire station Wednesday had injuries "consistent with that of multiple blows and strikes from a closed fist punch," according to court documents filed Friday.
A doctor told investigators the boy also had severe injuries to internal organs including the stomach, liver and small intestine as well as a lacerated pancreas. The doctor advised the boy's death was a homicide.
Mitchell Vanryn, 27, of Fort Wayne, is charged with aggravated battery and domestic battery. He was looking after the child Wednesday, and he was arrested Thursday.
