Driver who fled DeKalb traffic stop facing US drug charges

MATTHEW LEBLANC | The Journal Gazette

A man who fled a traffic stop in DeKalb County and was later arrested in Allen County is facing federal drug charges.

Ivan Jaimes-Molina is charged with possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, according to an indictment returned this week to U.S. District Court of Northern Indiana in Fort Wayne. He is also charged with possessing a firearm as an illegal alien.

Jaimes-Molina was stopped by a DeKalb County sheriff's deputy for speeding on Interstate 69 on Nov. 29. According to court documents, he ran from the deputy after a police dog alerted the deputy to drugs that were later found in the car.

Jaimes-Molina was later arrested after attempting to hitchhike in Allen County.
