Felon given 15 years for possessing gun
A Fort Wayne man was sentenced to 15 years in prison after a federal judge found him guilty of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
Tyrone M. Wright, 41, was sentenced to 180 months of imprisonment and two years of supervised release, the U.S. Attorney's Office said Tuesday.
Wright was found to have a firearm in his possession March 25, 2015, after having been convicted of felony offenses, the U.S. attorney said.
In 2001 and again in 2007, the attorney's office said, Wright was convicted in Allen County of serious drug offenses or violent felonies. He was also convicted of a similar charge in St. Joseph County in 1994.
The three felonies qualify Wright to be considered an Armed Career Criminal with a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
