Police were investigating a dead body that was found on Holton Avenue Wednesday morning.
Police were alerted to the body about 10:15 a.m. lying in the rear of a vacant lot at 2949 Holton. The body was described as a male black, but no other information was available.
Police said they discovered several spent shell casings near the body, leading police to believe there may have been a shooting. Shortly after 3 a.m. today, they said, officers responded to the 3000 block of Reed Street on a report of multiple gunshots, but found nothing at the time.
Police were canvassing the neighborhood to learn if anyone had seen or heard anything. Officials said the body would be taken to a local hospital and an autopsy would probably be performed Thursday.
The body was found one block from where a 19-year-old man was shot and critically wounded at 2917 Bowser Ave.
