Arrest made after IU alert on knife threat

Associated Press

BLOOMINGTON -- Indiana University says a suspect was arrested after an emergency alert was issued about a person with a knife on the Bloomington campus.

A university spokesman said the person was arrested off campus soon after the Friday morning alert, which said the person was spotted near Merrill Hall on the southern edge of campus. The campus alert was lifted, with officials saying the "threat is no longer imminent."

No injuries were immediately reported. Campus police didn't immediately reply to a message seeking additional information.
