Woman dies in apparent stabbing

Found in apartment; investigation ongoing

JAMIE DUFFY | The Journal Gazette

A woman died Thursday after her family found her in her north-side apartment, the victim of an apparent stabbing, police said.

Fort Wayne police were called just after 9 a.m. to a stabbing reported at 214 Northeast Drive in Coldwater Crossing apartments, between Coliseum Boulevard and East Washington Center Road.

The woman's family went to check on her and found her in her apartment. She was taken from the scene in critical condition to a hospital where she later died, police said.

Police did not identify the woman. Police and the Allen County coroner's and prosecutor's offices are investigating. The coroner will determine the cause and manner of death.

Detectives and crime scene technicians searched the apartment and canvassed the complex hoping to find someone who might have information that would help their investigation, police said.
