1 dead, 1 injured in Saturday night shooting
The following release is being printed verbatim from the Fort Wayne Police Department.
On Saturday July 22, 2017 at approximately 11:49 PM, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the area of the 1200 block of Lillie Street after receiving several 911 calls advising of shots fired in the area.
As officers arrived in the area, they located a male victim near the intersection of Lewis and Lillie suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
While officers were at this location, they received additional information advising that a possible second shooting victim may have been involved in a vehicle accident in the 1400 block of East Lewis Street. As officers arrived at this location, they located a second male victim inside a vehicle suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The male that was located inside the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. Paramedics provided medical attention to the first victim before transporting him to a local hospital where he was listed in good condition.
Investigators advised that it is believed that the two shooting victims were inside a vehicle in the 1200 block of Lillie Street when they were shot. One of the males got out of the vehicle and ran towards the intersection of Lewis and Lillie where he was located by officers. The other male victim drove the vehicle westbound on Lewis before crashing into a parked vehicle.
Investigators canvassed the area attempting to locate any possible witnesses to the incident. Crime Scene Investigators processed the scenes. There is no suspect information at this time and no arrests have been made. The Allen County Coroner Office will release the exact cause and manner of death along with the deceased victims identity. The other males identity will be released at a later time pending family notification.
This incident is being investigated by the Fort Wayne Police Department, Allen County Coroners Office, and the Allen County Prosecutors Office.
