Man charged with rape in alleged attack year ago

A Fort Wayne man is facing rape charges, accused of forcing himself on a woman last year.

Ruben G. Garcia-Velazquez, 27, of the 600 block of High Street, was at the woman's family home Nov. 4-5, 2016, when he entered her bedroom and wouldn't take no for an answer, court records said.

When she told him he was drunk, he admitted drinking and pushed her backwards to the edge of her bed. He then tried to force himself on her, according to court documents.

Her brother inadvertently interrupted the incident by walking into his own bedroom. The noise apparently scared off Garcia-Velazquez, who told the victim he'd be back in 10 minutes. The victim immediately told her father and brother and identified Garcia-Velazquez to police, court records said.

A forensic examination of some swabs showed his DNA was on them, court documents said.

There is a warrant for his arrest. He is charged with rape, attempted rape and sexual battery. His bond will be $22,500, according to an Allen County Jail spokesman.

Molesting charge filed

A Monroeville man was charged Wednesday with child molesting.

Matt W. Pfeiffer, 42, is accused of performing a sex act on a 10-year-old girl between Oct. 1 and Oct. 31, 2016.

He told police he had the victim come in his room and massage him while he was nude but denied any further sex acts, court documents said.

A warrant was issued for his arrest. His bond is likely $10,000, according to an Allen County Jail spokesman.
