1 dead, 1 in critical condition after rollover crash

A driver was killed and a passenger critically hurt in a rollover crash near Etna Green Saturday evening.

Kosciusko County Sheriff's deputies and emergency personnel responded to a single-vehicle rollover crash at 5:53 p.m. on 900 West near 700 North. A 2008 Suzuki was traveling north on 900 West when it went off the western edge of the road. The driver lost control and the vehicle rolled over into a yard, striking a tree, according to a news release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department.

The male driver who was killed was identified as Jeremy Hartzell, 35, of Nappanee. His passenger, Nicholas Pelc, 25, also of Nappanee, was taken to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne in critical condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
