Body found in Paulding garage

Journal Gazette

Authorities are seeking a northwest Ohio man charged with murdering his girlfriend.

Matthew J. Dempsey, 46, was last seen in Bryan, Ohio, about 6 a.m. Sunday – nearly eight hours before Paulding County sheriff's deputies responded to his home for a welfare check and found his girlfriend dead, according to a sheriff's office news release.

It wasn't obvious how Gina L. Mann died, the release said. Mann, 47, was found in a vehicle parked inside the garage at her and Dempsey's residence in Paulding.

An arrest warrant was issued for Dempsey on a count of murder, the release said.

Police believe Dempsey may be driving a tan, 2002 Buick Regal 4-door, with an Ohio license number of GYR4176, a release issued Monday said.
Those with information about Dempsey's whereabouts are asked to contact the Paulding County Sheriff's Office at 419-399-3791, leave information on the sheriff's Facebook, send an anonymous tip at www.pauldingohsheriff.com, or call their local law enforcement agency.

Homicide ruled in Steuben case

Steuben County Coroner William Harter has ruled homicide as the manner of death of a man whose body was found in the Trine State Recreation Area.

An autopsy was performed Sunday morning, according to a news release from the Indiana State Police.

Identifying the male victim could take several weeks.

The body was found by workers on Friday morning. Conservation officers were immediately notified, but it was unclear how long the body had been in the area.

No further information was available.
