A man was arrested after police found a woman dead in a home Wednesday morning at 808 Baxter St.

Julio Rodriguez, 47, was being held at the Allen County Jail without bail. He was initially charged with aggravated battery and domestic battery causing serious bodily injury.

The Allen County coroner is expected to release the woman's name after an autopsy today, Fort Wayne police said.

Police characterized the incident as domestic.

Police were called to the home near Hanna Street, Rudisill Boulevard and McKinnie Avenue at 6:10 a.m. on an unspecified problem and found an unresponsive woman who medics pronounced dead at the scene.

Three other people were at the home, including Rodriguez, and were taken individually to be interviewed by detectives. A language barrier required an outside service to assist, police said.

As a result of the investigation, Rodriguez became the suspect. Two dogs were removed from the home by Animal Care & Control, police said.

If the woman's death is ruled a homicide, it will be the 19th in Allen Countythis year.
