Journal Gazette

Six people safely escaped an early-morning fire that investigators said caused heavy damage to a home on Kensington Drive.

Firefighters arrived to 7320 Kensington Drive about 3 a.m. Tuesday and found three adults and three children outside the one-story home.

They told crews that a pet cat remained inside the structure.

The animal was rescued several minutes later and the blaze took about a half-hour to bring under control, the fire department said.

There were no injuries, and the fire remains under investigation.
