Man found killed on Masterson identified

Coroner also announces cause of May death at hotel

DAVE GONG | The Journal Gazette

The Allen County coroner Monday identified a victim in a Sunday night shooting on Masterson Avenue and announced the cause of death for a Las Vegas woman found dead in May in a Fort Wayne motel.

Tramane L. Scott, 29, was shot about 7:28 p.m. Sunday in the 200 block of Masterson Avenue along with another man. Scott and the other victim were taken to a hospital, where Scott was pronounced dead. The other victim, who has not yet been named, was listed in serious condition.

Scott is the 26th homicide in Allen County this year, the coroner's office said in a release.

The shooting remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, Allen County coroner's office and Allen County prosecutor's office. Anyone with information is encouraged to call police at 427-1222 or Allen County Crime Stoppers at 436-7867.

Two months after her body was found in a hotel room in the 1000 block of Coliseum Boulevard West, the Allen County coroner has ruled the death of Michelle Lee Funk-Pike a homicide. Although the coroner released her name shortly after the incident, the cause and manner of death had been pending since May.

Funk-Pike, 47, suffered blunt force injuries to the head, neck and chest, and was strangled. She is Allen County's 25th homicide this year.

The victim's boyfriend, David Fabela, was charged with murder in late May. Fabela was originally charged with aggravated battery.

Witnesses told police Fabela was seen wandering around the Regency Inn where the pair was staying, telling guests he had killed his girlfriend.
