Formal criminal charges were filed today against John D. Miller in the April Tinsley cold case that stumped law enforcement for decades.
Miller, 59, of Grabill, is charged with murder and child molesting.
He is accused of sexually assaulting April, an 8-year-old Fort Wayne girl, strangling her and dumping her body in a DeKalb County ditch in 1988, according to court documents.
The charges filed today did not include his preliminary charge of criminal confinement.
An initial hearing is scheduled for Thursday morning.
