Man discovered dead in car

Police seek information on shooting

A surveillance camera on the northwest corner of Walgreens at East State and North Coliseum boulevards may yield information on who shot a man early Saturday who was sitting in a car parked outside the store.

Police found the man just after midnight suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. An employee closing up the store found the victim, according to a news release from the Fort Wayne Police Department.

Police were uncertain how many times the man was shot.

Three sources identified the victim as Carlos Hamilton Jr., 20, of Fort Wayne.

Hamilton graduated from Snider High School after attending Bishop Luers High School, a source close to the victim said.

At the scene, there were no witnesses and no suspects have been arrested, but police hope surveillance footage from nearby businesses will help identify the killer or killers.

If this death is declared a homicide, it will be the 27th in Allen County this year. Last year, as of July 18, there had been 17 declared homicides.

Police are asking anyone with information to call them at 427-1222 or Crime Stoppers at 436-7867.
