Two men killed in late June in separate cases were the victims of homicides, the Allen County coroner ruled Friday.

Brandon Edward Bittner, 27, was found shot to death in a home in the 9400 block of Greyhawk Drive during the evening of June 26. He was shot in the head. He is the 31st homicide victim in Allen County this year.

Two days later, the body of Randy Ray Singleton, 52, was found lying on the tennis courts at Weisser Park.

A Parks and Recreation Department worker discovered him the morning of June 28.

At the time, detectives found no obvious signs of foul play. The coroner ruled that Singleton died of blunt force trauma to the head. He is the 32nd homicide this year.

At this point last year, there were 22 homicides with a 2017 yearly total of 41. Allen County's record is 49, set in 2016.
