Fort Wayne police Friday identified two people injured in Thursday night's shooting on Madison Street.

A man who died from gunshot wounds has not yet been identified by the Allen County coroner.

According to a news release from Sgt. Jim Seay, Fort Wayne Police Department public information spokesman, Jason Sandy, 41, is in critical condition and Rachel Burtz, 33, is in serious condition. Both were shot inside the home.

Neighbors who witnessed the aftermath of the shooting said they saw one man lying dead in the grass outside the home close to the corner of Madison and Francis streets. They also said they saw a woman come out of the home holding her arm.

The shooting occurred about 9:15 p.m.

One neighbor who walked up to the corner where many neighbors had gathered talked about his friend “J” and Jason, calling him his best friend.

He said Sandy lived in the home.

No arrests have been made.

Fort Wayne police are asking anyone with information on the shooting to call Crime Stoppers at 436-7867.

If the man's death is ruled a homicide, it will be the 33rd in Allen County this year.
