Man serious after bullets fired into home

MATTHEW LEBLANC | The Journal Gazette

A man was injured early Monday after his home was the target of gunfire.

Police were called at 1:20 a.m. to a home in the 2800 block of Oakwood Drive, where they found the man standing in a garage with a bullet wound to his back. He was taken to a hospital in serious condition.

Investigators also found bullet holes in the home.

“There were numerous holes in the house on the north side and east side,” according to a report from the Fort Wayne Police Department.

Some of the shots made their way into a living room and a bedroom.

“The holes from the east side of the home were at the level of the bed mattress,” the report states.

Officers also found a bullet in a cup holder in a chair in the living room.

It's not clear whether it was a drive-by shooting.

Police department spokesman Michael Joyner said it appeared the shots were fired “from positions just outside the home.”

Anyone with information on the shooting can call police at 260-427-1201.
