Cyclist struck, killed; driver allegedly drunk
A 24-year-old man who police say was allegedly driving drunk was jailed in Noble County after a bicyclist was struck and killed.
Officers were called to West County Road 1200 North in Ligonier at 9:35 p.m. Tuesday and found Topeka resident Richard Miller, 23, dead from his injuries, according to a news release.
The driver, Faron Yoder of Ligonier, was traveling east in a Nissan Altima when he hit Miller, police said. Yoder had no obvious injuries, officers said, but was taken to a hospital unresponsive because of his intoxication.
He was being held without bail Wednesday on a preliminary charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing death.
The crash is under investigation.
