Police seeking witness to fatal collision that killed boy

ASHLEY SLOBODA | The Journal Gazette

Warsaw police are seeking a driver who might have helpful information about the fatal collision that killed an 8-year-old boy this week.

The driver turned left from North Pointe Drive onto Husky Trail about 1:45 p.m. Monday in a silver or white Ford Focus with an "In God We Trust" license plate, the Warsaw Police Department said today.

"The driver is simply a potential witness to the environment seconds before the collision occurred and could be helpful to investigators," police said.

Police believe Gidieon Cook was crossing Husky Trail in the crosswalk at North Pointe Drive near Harrison Elementary School when he was hit by a car driven by Raven L. Loubert, 24, of Tippecanoe.

Gidieon recently finished second grade at Harrison and was attending summer school, police said.

Loubert has cooperated with police, providing both a blood draw and consensual search of her cellphone, police have said.

A vigil for Gidieon is planned for 7:30 p.m. today at the crosswalk in front of the school.
