A 23-year-old Fort Wayne woman has been named the victim of a November homicide on Walnut Street, the Allen County coroner's office said today.

Jessica Elizabeth Bruch died from a gunshot wound or wounds, and her death was the 49th homicide in the county during 2016, the coroner's office said in a statement.

Fort Wayne police responded to a local hospital about 9:30 p.m. Nov. 12 on a report that someone had taken the victim to the hospital with an apparent gunshot wound. Shortly before 10 p.m., the woman died.

Preliminary information from the hospital led police to a home in the 700 block of Walnut Street, where they believe the shooting may have occurred.

The shooting remains under investigation by city police, the coroner's office and the county prosecutor's office.
