Cyclist hurt in collision with highway-patrol cruiser

A Celina, Ohio, man was seriously injured this morning after his bicycle collided with an Ohio State Highway Patrol cruiser, the highway patrol said.
Daniel T. Bruns, 62, was riding in the northbound lane on Main Street in Celina, south of Sugar Street, about 3:20 a.m. when he collided with a northbound cruiser driven by Trooper Kara Kavaliauskas of the Van Wert Post, the highway patrol said in a statement.
Kavaliauskas was not injured, the statement said.
It said Bruns, who was not wearing a helmet, acknowledged consuming alcohol and using marijuana before the crash. No charges have been filed. The crash remains under investigation.
