Death under investigation

Rebecca S. Green The Journal Gazette

Allen County police began investigating a suspicious death Monday in the northeast area of the county.

According to a statement from the Allen County Sheriff's Department, officers were called to a home in the 6700 block of Goldenrod Place just after 10:30 a.m. after a report of a front door being open.

When they arrived at the home, they found the front door to the residence open, with one person dead inside, according to the statement.

The cause and manner of death will be released by the Allen County coroner, and the matter remains under investigation by the Allen County Sheriff's Department and the Allen County Coroner's Office.

If the death of the person is ruled a homicide, it would be the ninth in Allen County for 2015 but the first outside the city limits of Fort Wayne.
