Man dies in off-road vehicle crash

PAUL WYCHE | The Journal Gazette

A Sandusky, Ohio, man has been identified as the victim of a utility terrain vehicle crash early today in southwest Allen County, the county coroner's office said.

Alex Michael Tetzloff, 21, died accidentally from blunt-force trauma because of a motor vehicle crash, the coroner's office said in a statement following an autopsy. His death is the 25th traffic fatality in Fort Wayne and Allen County so far this year.

Police responded to the incident a little after 2 a.m. in the 8800 block of Kress Road near Ernst Road, officials have said. The driver of the vehicle, 45-year-old John Stephenson, had minor injuries.

A news release from the state Department of Natural Resources stated that Stephenson and his passenger drove into a ditch, striking several tree stumps, which caused the vehicle to flip. Stephenson was taken to Lutheran Hospital.

He and his passenger wore seat belts, but not helmets. The rollover is being investigated by the DNR and the coroner's office.
