A man inside a southeast-side home suffered critical injuries Monday night after a fight broke out in the house’s doorway.

According to Fort Wayne police, officers responded about 11:45 p.m. to the report of a fight in the 4100 block of Euclid Avenue. As they headed to the scene, the call changed to a reported shooting. Officers found a man inside the home suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Police were told there had been a fight near the doorway to the home, shots were fired and the man inside was injured, according to a news release.

He was taken to a hospital in serious condition, but was downgraded to critical condition at the hospital, according to the release.

Detectives spent Tuesday interviewing witnesses and neighbors, working to identify the suspect and figure out whether the injured man was the intended target of the shooting.

The shooting remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County prosecutor’s office. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 427-1222 or Crime Stoppers at 436-7867.
