It came in as a report of a suburban home with an open front door.
Police arrived Monday morning and went in to investigate.
What they found was the lifeless body of Quineta A. Bright.
The 26-year-old’s life had been taken from her.
Her death was ruled a homicide by one or more gunshot wounds, according to the Allen County Coroner’s Office. No further information about the case was available Tuesday, and no arrests had yet been made.
The Allen County Sheriff’s Department was called to the 6700 block of Goldenrod Place about 10:30 a.m. Monday after someone reported a home with an open door, the department said in an earlier statement.
Police did not say where Bright was found in the home located in a small subdivision off St. Joe Road, just north of Interstate 469.
Her death marks the ninth homicide of the year in Allen County.
It was the first homicide of 2015 not to occur in the city limits.
