The Indiana State Police are questioning a man they say is a person of interest in a robbery at an Auburn bowling center on New Year's Day.

Around 10:20 p.m., a man forced his way into the Auburn Bowl, 1815 Sprott St., and took a large amount of money in cash and coins, state police at Fort Wayne said in a statement.

Police believe the suspect used a brown-and-orange "Hammer" brand bowling bag to make off with the cash.

Earlier this afternoon, police had asked for the public's help in identifying a man in a surveillance photo. That man is the one who is being questioned, police said.

Police are still asking for anyone with information to call state police at 800-552-0976 or 260-432-8661, or Crime Stoppers at 260-436-7867.
