The Wayne High School Winter Guard's hard work is paying off.

The 14-member group earned a place at the Indiana High School Color Guard Association Regional A state semifinals at preliminaries last weekend in Mooresville.

The Wayne students are scheduled to perform at 11:07 a.m. Saturday at Decatur Central High School in Indianapolis.

“They have worked their tails off, and for the first time in Wayne's history, made it past prelims to semifinals,” guard director Jeremy Daab said in an email.

Their competitors include Norwell and Carroll, whose performance times are 12:10 p.m. and 2:09 p.m., respectively. Homestead will compete in another class, at 3:34 p.m.

The state championships are March 17 at Center Grove High School in Greenwood.
