Verdell Jones III scored a career-high 28 points in Sunday's 78-61 loss at Northwestern. Jones has scored at least 22 points in each of Indiana's last three games. He is averaging 14.9 points per game, 18.6 points in conference contests.

Tom Crean provided another update on injured guard Matt Roth during Monday's Big Ten teleconference. Roth has been out since mid-November with a left foot injury.I don't think it's a likelihood that we are going to have him this week, Crean said. It's a situation where he will be looked at again (Monday) and we'll have a clearer view, but I'm not anticipating him this week.

Snider graduate Reggie Hearn played one minute for Northwestern in the 78-61 victory against Indiana. It's the second straight game Hearn has played. He collected one rebound in his one minute Tuesday against Michigan.

Tom Pritchard found out his grandmother died Wednesday evening. He then went out and had his best game of the season.Pritchard had 13 points and five rebounds in Indiana's 78-75 loss to Purdue.It was obviously tough to play, but I know she was with me and gave me an extra boost, Pritchard said.

For the second straight game, it's close, but not quite for Indiana. The Hoosiers lost to Purdue 78-75 Thursday at Assembly Hall. Missed free throws in the final five minutes played a part as IU lost for the sixth time in eight games.

Indiana had 25 players in its class of 2010. Unlike in recent years, the bulk of players came from outside of the state.The list includes eight players from Ohio, three from Michigan, two from Illinois, Wisconsin and California and one from Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland and Washington, D.C. There are four players from Indiana.

The time, date and network have been set for the Indiana-Purdue men's basketball game in West Lafayette.The Hoosiers will travel to Purdue on March 3. The game will start at 6:30 p.m. and will be televised on the Big Ten Network.

Matt Roth dressed, but did not play Saturday against Illinois. IU coach Tom Crean addressed the sophomore guard's status during Monday's Big Ten teleconference.It's really going to be what he can tolerate. He's really healing pretty well right now. There's not a total cutoff date. We're in that ballpark as we go through the next couple of weeks.

Indiana improved rebounding. The Hoosiers shot the ball better from three-point territory and even made big free throws down the stretch.It still wasn't enough.Demetri McCamey made a running jumper at the buzzer to give Illinois a 72-70 victory against IU.

Indiana is taking on Illinois in Champaign.The Illini won the first meeting between the teams 66-60 on Jan. 9. Illinois rallied from 15-down to beat IU.
