KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The most grueling stretch of the season -- perhaps any season in Komets history -- is over.The Komets' 25th game in 44 days ended with a 3-2 loss to the Kalamazoo Wings, in front of 4,039 fans, about 400 of them from Fort Wayne, at Wings Stadium on Saturday night.

The Komets had a chance to pull into a tie for first place in the North Division, but they squandered it with a 5-3 loss to the Toledo Walleye at Memorial Coliseum on Friday night.

Additionally, the ECHL has added 10 more players for the All-Star game next Wednesday.

Mike Hoban scored the lone goal in the third period as the visiting Komets beat Evansville 1-0 on Wednesday.

They won't be in the lineup tonight at Evansville, but the Komets have a lot of help on the way.

The Komets are hopeful that Luca Caputi, who had been sidelined with a shoulder injury, will be back in the lineup Wednesday at Evansville.

That's good news for the Komets, assuming he is on his way back, because I've heard that Brent Henley is going to Lake Erie of the AHL.

Former Komets forward Matt Syrocznski was released by Florida after one game. He was scoreless.

Goaltender Kenny Reiter was exceptional -- he stopped 32 of 33 shots and all four shootout attempts he faced -- and the Komets defeated the Cincinnati Cyclones 2-1 in front of 5,437 fans at U.S. Bank Arena on Friday night.

The Komets have also called up Nick Wheeler from Dayton of the Federal Hockey League.

The Komets have lost two more players to American Hockey League teams today.

The Komets have signed Brayden Metz, who was with them in training camp and had been playing for Dayton of the Federal Hockey League.
