Outlook: The Spartans have won three straight and four of their last five games. ... Manchester's 35-34 win at Hanover on Saturday was solidified in the final minute when Hanover's 2-point conversion pass failed to make it 34-29 with 45 seconds left. It took only 19 seconds of play for the Spartans to respond with a 63-yard pass from Alex Downard to Dakota Nelson for the game-winner. Nelson, a senior wide receiver, was named conference player of the week for his performance against Hanover. He totaled 242 all-purpose yards with nine receptions for 145 yards and three touchdowns. Sixty-three of those yards came during the 93-yard final, game-winning drive. Nelson leads the team with 51 receptions for 604 yards and seven scores. Downard has completed 124 of 216 passes this season for 1,568 yards and 12 touchdowns with seven interceptions. Jack Kay leads the Spartans' defense with 68 total tackles (38 solo, 30 assists). ... For Anderson, its only win this season came in the conference opener Sept.16 with a 27-16 win over Earlham at home. Since then, the Ravens have lost six straight. The team is coming off a 63-17 loss Saturday to conference leader Franklin. ... Quarterback Blake Levy has completed 82 of 183 passes for 969 yards and five touchdowns with four interceptions. Alex Barnett leads the team with 342 receiving yards on 17 catches and three touchdowns while Deontae Kelly has 23 receptions for 303 yards and two scores. ... Local athletes suiting up for the Ravens include Norwell graduates and junior defensive linemen Adam Nahrwold and Jeremy Davis; Adams Central graduate linebacker Dakota Frauhiger; Warsaw graduate Caleb Wooldridge, a defensive lineman; and freshman kicker Luke Andrews, a Wayne graduate.
