Outlook: The Cardinals are looking for their first win over the Huskies since 2008. The teams will be facing off for the Bronze Stalk Trophy which the programs have been playing for since 2008. The trophy consists of several cornstalks representative of the prevalence of the crop between the two home states. ... Ball State has lost six straight games with their last victory coming Sept. 16 over Tennessee Tech, 28-13. The Cardinals have been outscored 254-46 in their five MAC losses, falling by an average score of 51-9. The Cardinals' defense has allowed four of their five MAC opponents to score 55 or more points. ... In its last game on Nov. 2, Ball State fell 56-14 at Eastern Michigan. In that game, quarterback Drew Plitt completed 11 of 21 passes for 169 yards and two touchdowns with one interception in his first career start. He also ran 11 times for 20 yards. ... Caleb Huntley leads the Cardinals with 137 carries for 633 yards with three touchdowns this season, while Justin Hall has 57 catches for 605 yards and two scores. ... The Huskies are coming off a 27-17 loss to Toledo on Nov. 2 in a battle for first place in the MAC West. In the loss, the team's first and only conference loss, Marcus Childers completed 23 of 43 passes for 235 yards with two interceptions. ... The Huskies average 400.2 yards of total offense while giving up 331.6. Childers leads the team in total yards with 1,485 on 276 plays (378 yards rushing, 1,107 yards passing). Defensively, Bobby Jones has 79 total tackles for Northern Illinoise (39 solo, 40 assists), with 11 tackles for a loss including four sacks. ... After this week, there are two remaining regular-season games before the MAC Championship, which will be played Dec. 2 in Detroit.
