IPFW gives up lead in 2nd half

The IPFW men fell in a high-scoring game to Omaha 90-85 on Saturday at Baxter Arena in Omaha, Nebraska. 

The Mastodons (16-12, 5-6 Summit) led 49-45 at halftime but was outscored 45-36 in the second half. 

John Konchar had 22 points and seven rebounds for IPFW. Bryson Scott added 19, Kason Harrell 16 and Xzavier Taylor 10. 

Mitch Hahn led Omaha (9-17, 4-6) with 21 points.

The Mavericks made 12 of 25 (48 percent) 3-pointers and 24 of 33 (73 percent) free throws. 

NOTRE DAME 84, FLORIDA STATE 69: In South Bend, Matt Farrell scored a career-high 28 points to lead the Irish's potent three-guard attack.

Rex Pflueger added a career-high 19 points and T.J. Gibbs matched him with 19 after a poor-shooting first half (2 of 12) as Mike Brey's Irish (15-10, 5-7 Atlantic Coast Conference) won their second straight after losing seven in a row.

C.J. Walker had 16 points, Phil Cofer, 12 and P.J. Savoy, 11 – all in the first half – for the Seminoles (17-8, 6-7 ACC), who lost their second straight and left coach Leonard Hamilton still seeking his 500th career victory.

Both teams struggled shooting early – Florida State went 5 1/2 minutes between field goals and Notre Dame nearly 5 minutes – before the Irish found their stroke from 3-point range hitting six of its first 12 on way to its biggest lead of the half, 32-22, with 3:42 before the half.

The Irish then answered a 6-0 Seminoles run and took a 40-34 halftime lead on the fourth 3-pointer by Farrell, who had 14 points in the half.


BALL STATE 81, WESTERN MICHIGAN 71: In Kalamazoo, Michigan, the Cardinals led the entire way in beating the Broncos. 

Ball State (20-4, 9-4 MAC) was led by Moriah Monaco's 28 points.
