Hoosier Hysteria set for Sept. 29

DYLAN SINN | The Journal Gazette

Hoosier Hysteria, the first chance for Indiana basketball fans to glimpse the 2018-19 version of the Hoosiers, will start at 4 p.m. on Sept. 29 at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, the Hoosiers announced Thursday. The event will also be live-streamed on BTN Plus.

The Big Ten released tip times and broadcast information Thursday for games that fall under the conference's purview, including league games and games in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. The Hoosiers will be prominently featured on national television, playing three games each on CBS and Fox and six on ESPN or ESPN2.

Perhaps most notably, Indiana will take on preseason national title favorite Duke, featuring freshman sensation Zion Williamson, at Cameron Indoor Arena at 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 27, a matchup that will air on ESPN as part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. Indiana will open its season Nov. 1 at Assembly Hall against Southern Indiana at 7 p.m.

In addition to releasing their schedule, the Hoosiers also secured a commitment from their first recruit in the 2019 class Thursday. Guard Armaan Franklin, a four-star recruit from Cathedral, chose the Hoosiers over offers from Purdue, Xavier and Butler. He is the No. 26 guard in the class and the No. 133 player overall, per 24/7 Sports.

Like the Hoosiers' slate, Purdue's schedule is dotted with nationally-televised games. The Boilermakers will play Notre Dame in the Crossroads Classic on CBS at 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 15 and will take on Florida State, a 2018 Elite Eight team, in Tallahassee on Nov. 28 on ESPN at 9:15 p.m.

Indiana and Purdue will play in West Lafayette on Jan. 19, a game that will air on Fox at 2 p.m. They'll face off in Bloomington on Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. on ESPN.

A pair of local teams, Purdue Fort Wayne and Saint Francis, released their full men's basketball schedules, as well. The Mastodons will not have a chance to defeat Indiana for the third straight season, but they will face a Big Ten team when they take on Ohio State in Columbus on Nov. 11, part of the Buckeye Basketball Classic.

Purdue Fort Wayne opens its season with a marquee matchup against UCLA in Los Angeles on Nov. 6 and returns for its home opener at the Gates Center on Nov. 8 against Earlham. The Mastodons will take on Manchester at Memorial Coliseum at 7 p.m. on Nov. 13 and they also have non-conference games against Dayton and Miami (Ohio).

Saint Francis tips off its 55th season at home on Oct. 27 with a 6 p.m. start against Aquinas College. The Cougars will play in the Cornerstone University Classic from Nov. 2-13, a span that includes two matchups against No. 6 Indiana Tech, including one at the Schaefer Center at 3 p.m. on Nov. 10.

Saint Francis has games against No. 2 Cornerstone on Nov. 3 and No. 1 Indiana University-East, the latter of which is at home on Nov. 18 at 6 p.m.
