Cougar men earn 9th straight win

The Saint Francis men's basketball team defeated Taylor 87-72 in Upland on Tuesday for its ninth consecutive win.
The Cougars (10-2, 4-0 Crossroads) led 41-21 at halftime and survived a 51-46 second-half performance by the Trojans (8-3, 1-3).
Bryce Lienhoop scored 20 to lead USF, Derek Hinen added 15, Evan Henry 14, Chandler White 13 and Connor Lautzenheiser 11.
Mason Degenkolb scored 16 for Taylor.
HUNTINGTON 92, GRACE 83: In Winona Lake, Tyler Arens had 32 points on 11-of-13 shooting and 14 rebounds to lead the Foresters (6-6, 2-2 Crossroads). Mike Bush added 21, Devon Merder 14 and Trevor Lockwood 12.
Braxton Linville scored 23 for the Lancers (6-7, 0-4), Erik Bowen added 15 and Logan Godfrey 12.
No. 3 MICHIGAN STATE 62, RUTGERS 52: In Piscataway, N.J., Miles Bridges scored 21 points and the Spartans overcame their worst offensive performance of the season.
Jaren Jackson Jr. scored all 11 of his points in the second half and had eight of the Spartans' season-high 13 blocks in helping Michigan State (8-1, 2-0 Big Ten) post its seventh straight win. Joshua Langford added 15 points.
Rutgers (6-3, 0-2) made Michigan State work for this one, holding the Spartans to season lows in points and shooting percentage (38.6).
No. 4 VILLANOVA 88, No. 12 GONZAGA 72: In New York, Mikal Bridges had his coming out performance as one of top players in the nation, scoring a career-high 28 points to lead the Wildcats in the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden.
Bridges hit five 3s in the first meeting between two programs that have ranked among the best for the last 15 years. Villanova (9-0) won the 2016 national championship, and the Zags lost the 2017 title game to North Carolina. Zach Norvell Jr. led Gonzaga (7-2) with 22 points and Perkins had 16.
BUTLER 81, UTAH 69: In Indianapolis, the Bulldogs broke a 39-all tie with a 14-0 run to go up 53-39 with 14:15 left.
Kelan Martin led the Bulldogs (7-2) with 29 points on 12 of 19 shooting and added 11 rebounds. Tyler Wideman scored 18, Paul Jorgensen 16 and Kamar Baldwin 11.
Donnie Tillman led Utah (6-2) with 20 points, Sedrick Barefield scored 14 and Justin Bibbins and Gabe Bealer each added 10.
INDIANA 68, NORTH TEXAS 63: In Bloomington, Tyra Buss led the Hoosiers (5-4) with 26 points, Amanda Cahill added 15 points and 12 rebounds and Kym Royster scored 13.
Terriell Bradley led the Mean Green (6-2) with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
