Purdue gets rings as Big Ten champs
WEST LAFAYETTE – The Purdue men's basketball team received its 2017 Big Ten championship rings Saturday during Homecoming festivities.
Led by All-American and first-round NBA draft selection Caleb Swanigan, the Boilermakers received their rings in a locker room ceremony. Swanigan, the Homestead graduate, along with Spike Albrecht and Jon McKeeman, delivered the rings to each member of the team and staff.
In addition, coach Matt Painter presented 2016 graduate Rapheal Davis a Big Ten championship ring. Davis, a Fort Wayne native, was instrumental in helping Purdue return to the top of the Big Ten standings and to the NCAA Tournament after missing the tournament his first two years on campus.
Purdue won the Big Ten with a 14-4 league mark. The Boilermakers return four starters from last year's team and will begin official practice Friday.
Bishop Dwenger graduate Grady Eifert is a member of the team.
