Bruins back has huge game in loss
Keishon Edwards ran for 352 yards and three touchdowns Friday night, but it wasn't enough to prevent Northrop from suffering a lopsided defeat on the road. Bishop Luers won 56-19, scoring 42 of the final 54 points.
The Knights (4-2) were paced by Jordan Presley's 115 yards and two rushing touchdowns. Norman Knapke threw for 220 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. That included an 84-yard touchdown pass to Justin Gaston.
Northrop is off to a 1-5 start for the third straight year.
SNIDER 27, WAYNE 0: At Spuller Stadium, the Panthers (6-0), ranked second in Class 6A, got 10 tackles (five solo), a sack and 21/2 tackles for losses from Zachary McDowell. Christian Covington rushed for 181 yards and two touchdowns. For Wayne (3-3), Brandon Young rushed for 106 yards.
HOMESTEAD 42, NORTH SIDE 14: At North Side, the Spartans (5-1) responded to their loss to Snider by scoring the first 42 points. Jiya Wright threw for 283 yards and four touchdowns, and Trevin Taylor had eight catches for 135 yards and two touchdowns.
CARROLL 62, SOUTH SIDE 28: At South Side, Carroll's Jack Miguel completed 30 of 40 passes for 333 yards with two touchdowns. Nathan Harrah had eight catches for 90 yards and two touchdowns for the Chargers (4-2).
LEO 42, BELLMONT 0: In Leo-Cedarville, Trenton Bonner got 119 yards and three touchdowns on only three carries for the Lions (4-2). A.J. Restivo threw for a touchdown and ran for another.
EAST NOBLE 43, NORWELL 7: In Ossian, Andrew McCormick completed 18 of 26 passes for 245 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 81 yards and two touchdowns for East Noble (4-2).
BLUFFTON 52, SOUTHERN WELLS 6: At Bluffton, Brandon Lockwood gained 187 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries as the Tigers (3-3) beat the Raiders (1-5) for the sixth time in seven years.
GARRETT 21, WEST NOBLE 20: At Garrett, Levi Follett connected with Kraig Smith and Jacob Bevis for fourth-quarter touchdowns to lead the Railroaders (4-2) over West Noble (3-3).
EASTSIDE 24, PRAIRIE HEIGHTS 7: At LaGrange, the Blazers (4-2) scored 24 unanswered points and got six catches for 111 yards and a touchdown from Aaron Dean.
CENTRAL NOBLE 49, LAKELAND 14: At LaGrange, Breeon Burgess rushed 16 times for 190 yards and four touchdowns and Braxton Dial rushed 20 times for 170 yards and three touchdowns as the Cougars (5-1) won their fifth straight.
WOODLAN 47, JAY COUNTY 6: At Woodburn, Justin Durkes threw for 273 yards and three touchdowns and Jack Rhoades rushed for 151 yards and a TD for Woodlan (6-0), ranked second in Class 2A.
