Lions, Chargers paired in tennis final
No. 6 Leo and No. 9 Carroll set up a championship matchup with easy semifinal 5-0 wins at the Carroll boys tennis sectional Thursday.
The Lions beat Blackhawk Christian, while the Chargers beat Snider.
Evan Roth won 6-0, 6-4 at No. 3 singles to lead Leo, while Carroll's No. 2 doubles team of Jacob Hess and Ethan Harris won 6-4, 7-5.
Leo (15-1) and Carroll (15-4) will play at 4 p.m. today in the title match.
DEKALB SECTIONAL: Angola beat the host Barons 5-0 to win the championship. The Hornets advance to the Concord Regional semifinals Tuesday.
NORWELL SECTIONAL: Bluffton slipped past Bellmont 3-2, while Adams Central cruised past Norwell 5-0 in the semifinals.
The Tigers' No. 1 doubles team of Gabe Eisenhut and Mason Heller earned a 5-7, 7-5, 6-3 win over Michael Wetter and Oliver Gehres.
In the other semifinal, the Jets' Kade Moser and Dylan Hurst won 3-6, 6-0, 6-3 over the Knights' Jacob Collins and Ian Clark at No. 2 doubles.
BISHOP DWENGER 1, HOMESTEAD 0: The host Saints picked up a first-half goal for the lone score.
CARROLL 3, HOMESTEAD 0: The host Chargers won 25-13, 25-16, 25-16 behind 13 kills from Ari Bollinger.
