Late layup lifts Vikings past Panthers' girls


Huntington North got a late layup to get past Snider 51-49 in girls basketball Tuesday.

Rileigh Johnson scored 14 points to lead the Vikings (1-0).

Snider (0-2) got 19 points from Daleshia Davis. 

The Panthers outscored the Vikings 21-9 in the fourth quarter to almost pull out the comeback win.

BISHOP LUERS 53, ANGOLA 50: The Knights got 14 points and eight rebounds from Kathryn Knapke and 12 points and five rebounds from Lydia Reimbold in the home win.

Luers improved to 2-0, while Angola fell to 1-1.

CONCORDIA 47, BELLMONT 35: Carissa Garcia scored 29 points to lead the host Cadets. Garcia made 10 of 12 from the free-throw line and made five 3-pointers for the Cadets (2-0). 

Grace Hunter had 22 points for the Braves (1-1).

NORWELL 68, WAYNE 15: Logan Rowles had 14 points and Malah Shelton 13 to lead the visiting Knights (1-0).

The Generals are 0-2.

EASTSIDE 46, BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN 25: Lindsey Beard scored 15 points to lead the visiting Blazers (2-0).

The Braves fell to 0-3.

WOODLAN 46, HAMILTON 13: Addison Bayman scored 19 points as the Warriors won big on the road.

Woodlan (2-1) held Hamilton (0-2) scoreless in the first quarter.
