Ben Davis blows away Penn
Indianapolis Ben Davis won its ninth state football championship with a 63-14 rout of Penn in the Class 6A title game Saturday at Indianapolis' Lucas Oil Stadium.
The top-ranked Giants (14-0) improved to 3-1 in championship games against the No. 4 Kingsmen (12-2). Broc Thompson had three touchdown catches, and Jermaine Hoskins caught two scores.
Ben Davis quarterback Reece Taylor threw for 340 yards and six touchdowns and ran for 131 yards and a score. Ben Davis outgained Penn 564-204.
The Giants led 49-7 at halftime.
EAST CENTRAL 14, LOWELL 7:Alex Maxwell scored on a 6-yard run with 2 minutes left to lift the Trojans. Maxwell also had a 13-yard scoring pass to Justin Brown in the second quarter.
Unranked East Central (12-3) won its second state championship after getting the 1994 4A title.
Jordan Jusevitch gave the No. 1 Red Devils (14-1) a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on a 1-yard run.
