Last-second free throw lifts Eastside boys

Aaron Dean converted a free throw with 0.8 second left as the Eastside boys basketball team outscored Bellmont 13-8 in the final quarter for a 36-35 comeback victory Tuesday.

Caleb Ballentine led Eastside (2-2) with 19 points in the home win, and Aaron Lehrman scored 14 in for the Braves (1-2).

CENTRAL NOBLE 62, WHITKO 50: At Central Noble, Ridley Zolman scored 21 and Trey Phillips added 19 for the Cougars. River West led the Wildcats with 24 points.

BENTON HOMESCHOOL 64, LAKELAND CHRISTIAN 51: At Benton Homeschool, Josh McDaniel scored 23 points for the Cougars and Noah Twombly added 10. Ethan Cooper scored 26 for Benton.

Girls basketball

WESTVIEW 44, GARRETT 25: At Garrett, Lexi Baver led the Railroaders with eight points and eight rebounds and Hannah Sobieski had 10 rebounds.

HUNTINGTON NORTH 50, MANCHESTER 37: At Huntington North, Rileigh Johnson scored 13 and Madalyn Robrock added 12 for the Vikings (4-5).


BLUFFTON 208, ADAMS CENTRAL 150: At Adams Central, the Tigers swept the boys (108-75) and girls (100-75) events.

The Tigers had double-event wins from Jack Reiff in the 200-yard freestyle (2 minutes, 3.82 seconds) and 500 free (5:38.26); Tristan Anderson in the 50 free (23.26) and 100 free (53.31); and Walker Leas in the 200 IM (2:17.72) and 100 back (1:01.72).

The Flying Jets had wins from Megan Carrico in the 50 free (27.45) and the 100 free (1:01.27) and Grace Moser in the 200 IM (2:48.22) and 100 fly (1:20.01).
