Brooks scores 32 in North win

Keion Brooks Jr. had 32 points and 12 rebounds as the Class 4A No. 10 North Side boys basketball team knocked No. 11 Valparaiso from the ranks of the unbeaten with a 68-63 win Friday at the Marion Shootout. 

Austin Boucher added 16 points for the Legends (7-2). 

Valparaiso, coached by former Northrop coach Barak Coolman, fell to 6-1. Brandon Newman led the Vikings with 33 points and 14 rebounds.

The Legends trailed 28-25 at halftime.

MARION 85, WAYNE 83: Dillon Redding scored 31 points, but the Generals fell in the Marion Shootout. 

Craig Young added 15 points and 14 rebounds for Wayne (3-2). Marion (8-1) got 25 points from J.K. Thomas and 20 from Jalen Blackmon. 

BISHOP DWENGER 54, GARY ROOSEVELT 23: The Saints (4-2) led 20-5 at halftime and cruised at the Marion Shootout. 

TINDLEY 76, SNIDER 67: Dillon Duff had 15 points and Isaac Farnsworth added 11 points, but the Panthers (1-5) fell at the Marion Shootout. 

Eric Hunter had 43 points for Tindley (6-1).

EAST NOBLE 53, FAIRFIELD 50: Ali Ali and Hayden Jones each scored 15 points as the Knights improved to 8-0 with the road win.

East Noble hasn't been 8-0 since 1996.

BELLMONT 51, SOUTH ADAMS 50:Kade Fuelling scored 13 points to lead the Braves (3-5). Kody Fike and James Arnold each had 15 for South Adams (3-5).

Girls basketball

SOUTH SIDE 59, OAK HILL 45: Shamari Tyson scored 19 points to lead the 4A No. 13 Archers to a program-best 12-0 start with the road win.

Class 2A No. 1 Oak Hill (12-1) lost for the first time.

WAWASEE 44, CENTRAL NOBLE 39: Meleah Leatherman had nine points as the Cougars fell on the road. Central Noble (9-3) also got seven points from Calista Rice and Sydney Freeman.
