3 area girls named state All-Stars
Central Noble's Sydney Freeman was named to the North Group, and Concordia's Carissa Garcia and Homestead's Sylare Starks were named to the Central Group of the IndyStar Indiana girls basketball Junior All-Stars announced Tuesday.
Coaches for the junior all-stars have not been announced. The teams will play the Kentucky Junior All-Stars on June 1 and 2 and one game against the Indiana All-Stars on June 6 with the sites to be announced.
The North Group and Central Group will join the Core Group for one game each against the Kentucky Juniors or the Indiana Seniors. The night and opponents will be determined later, according to a release.
DEKALB 67, SNIDER 64: At East Noble, Logan Kruse led the Barons with 22 points and 11 rebounds and Dalton Smith added 12 points in the Class 4A sectional. It's the first sectional win for DeKalb since 2013.
Keondre Brown scored 25 points, Dillon Duff had 14 and Jonqwell Lee 12 for the Panthers (6-16). DeKalb (11-12) will face North Side in Friday's 6 p.m. semifinal.
WAYNE 54, JAY COUNTY 38: At Huntington North, Craig Young scored 12 and Dillon Redding added 10 for the Generals (16-6) in the Class 4A sectional win. Wayne will face host Huntington North in Friday's 6 p.m. semifinal. Cole Stigleman scored 10 to lead the Patriots (14-10).
CHURUBUSCO 38, EASTSIDE 34: At South Adams, Jackson Paul scored 11 points to lead the defending 2A sectional champion Eagles. Churubusco (12-11) faces Canterbury in Friday's 7:30 p.m. semifinal. Aaron Dean and Caleb Ballentine each scored 10 points for the Blazers (10-13).
BLUFFTON 52, ADAMS CENTRAL 37: At South Adams, Johnathan Irwin and Max Corle each scored 15 and Rylie Johnston added 10 for the Tigers (9-14). Bluffton will face the host Starfires in Friday's semifinal.
Johnny Carroll led the Flying Jets (11-12) with 13 points.
BREMEN 62, WHITKO 53: At Westview, River West led the Wildcats with 30 points in the loss.
Ryan Caldwell scored 20, Justin Zumbrun added 14 and Jacob Wunder 10 for the Lions. Defending 2A sectional champ Central Noble will begin its quest to repeat with the 6 p.m. semifinal against Bremen.
LAKEWOOD PARK 49, FREMONT 35: At Hamilton, the defending 1A sectional champion Panthers (7-18) were led by Andrew Lyons' 16 points, Josh Pike's 13 points and Zach Krafft's 11 points. Lakewood Park will face host Hamilton at 6 p.m. Friday.
