Balanced Homestead golfers prevail at Leo

Morgan Dabagia posted an even-par 36 at Cedar Creek Golf Club to lead the Homestead girls golf team to a 147-179 victory over Leo on Tuesday in Leo-Cedarville.

Sydney Rybolt, Carrine Kogulan and Simone Senk all posted 37s for the Spartans. Madi Dabagia added a 38. And Rylie Parker carded a 39.

Leo was paced by the 39 of Anna Munson. Teammate Isabelle Baldwin posted a 43. Taylor Schleinkof had a 48.

Boys soccer

LAKELAND CHRISTIAN 3, CULVER 0: At Winona Lake, Theran McKeever had all three goals and Remington Swanson had the seven-save shutout against the Cavaliers.

Girls soccer

WAYNE 1, CONCORDIA 0: Kara Gerber's second-half goal guaranteed the Generals their first-ever victory over the Cadets. Amber Minnick made 11 saves.


HOMESTEAD 5, CARROLL 0: David Heiney was victorious at No. 1 singles, downing Luke Stoffel 6-3, 6-1 for the Spartans, ranked second in the state. At No. 1 doubles, Bryant Zitlaw and Tim Steiner downed Tyler Gibson and Josh Jackson 7-6, 6-0.

DEKALB 3, BELLMONT 2: At Waterloo, the closest match came at No. 2 singles, where Carman Rieke defeated Nick Teeple for the Barons' lone singles victory. He won 3-6, 6-4, 7-6. At No. 1, Cole Shifferly beat Addison Cruz 6-2, 6-0.


NORTHROP 3, SOUTH SIDE  0: Katie Ummel had five aces, seven digs and 18 assists in the 25-8, 25-3, 25-11 win.
