Kalamazoo 6 Komets 3
Wings hand Komets 4th loss in 5 games
Rookie Artur Tyanulin scored two goals Sunday, but it wasn't enough as the Komets lost 6-3 to the Kalamazoo Wings.
Tyanulin has four goals and eight points in only four games since being sent to the Komets from Tucson of the higher-level American Hockey League.
The Komets took multiple penalties and lost for the fourth time in five games in front of 2,217 fans at Wings Event Center in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Kalamazoo scored on 1 of 7 power plays and Fort Wayne was 1 for 3 as the Komets completed their first set of three games in as many days and played their first road game of the season.
Despite allowing a power-play goal, the Komets' penalty killers have stopped 27 of 30 opposing power plays this season.
The Komets play at defending champion Colorado on Wednesday.
Tyanulin had three points, Garrett Thompson netted his third goal in two games and Michael Houser stopped 33 of 38 shots for the Komets (3-3-1). For Kalamazoo (5-1-1), Danny Moynihan had two goals and three points, and Joel Martin stopped 43 of 46 shots in the teams' first meeting this season.
Fort Wayne defenseman Jason Binkley was held without a point for only the second time this season.
