Komets rally in 3rd to end skid
The Komets got three unanswered goals in the third period from Dennis Kravchenko, Gabriel Desjardins and Garrett Thompson to secure a 4-3 come-from-behind victory Sunday over the Quad City Mallards in Moline, Illinois.
The Komets are 9-0-1 against the Mallards this season. Thompson has a team-best eight goals in the season series.
Garrett Bartus stopped 31 shots for the Komets (39-15-3), who had lost the previous two nights to the Kansas City Mavericks because of poor third periods.
For Quad City (20-34-4), Ivan Kulbakov stopped 30 shots.
The Mallards had a 2-0 lead before Bobby Shea scored for the Komets 18:02 into the first period. The only goal of the second period came from Quad City's Jamie Tardif for a 3-1 lead.
Both teams were scoreless on four power plays.
The Komets have won 10 of their last 15 regular-season games at the TaxSlayer Center.
