Capital City 121 Mad Ants 103
Mad Ants fall, fail to qualify for postseason
For the second time in four years, the Mad Ants are not going to the postseason.
Davon Reed had 21 points and four rebounds to lead the Mad Ants, but they lost 121-103 to the Capital City Go-Go at the DC Entertainment and Sports Arena in Washington, D.C., on Saturday.
The loss took Fort Wayne (21-26) out of playoff contention with three games left in the regular season. Last year, they reached the Eastern Conference semifinals.
This is the fourth season in which the Mad Ants have been owned and operated by the Indiana Pacers. The Mad Ants missed the postseason in 2016 and lost to Maine in the first round in 2017.
Pacers guard Edmond Sumner scored 20 for Fort Wayne. Alize Johnson, a rookie with the Pacers, had a game-best 16 rebounds.
Jared Sam and Demetrius Denzel-Dyson chipped in 12 and 10 points, respectively, for Fort Wayne off the bench.
Capital City was paced by Jordan McRae's 22 points and Chris Chiozza's 21 points and eight assists.
The Go-Go (24-24) tallied 21 of the game's 24 points scored in transition, and it split the pair of games between the teams in Washington, D.C. Fort Wayne will play host to the Wisconsin Herd at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Coliseum.
